He will be going on a cruise from Dr. McDonald's Long Wharf. Dr. McDonald had been the president's doctor in an earlier battle against infantile paralysis.

An exciting day in Marion history when Roosevelt paid a visit to his old doctor, William McDonald, who could not make the trip to the White House, because of terminal illness. The cars in the photo brought the Presidential party, and residents turned out to see the chief executive.

Richard Harding Davis's "workshop," it was later the temporary residence of Franklin Delano Roosevelt when under the care of Dr. McDonald, and later the residence of Admiral Byrd. According to information recorded by Ed Tripp (former curator), the house is where RHD wrote some of his novels and short stories.

A 48 page booklet containing a series of 10 New Bedford Standard-Times articles titled "My Recollections of the Roosevelts" by Mrs. Charles S. Hamlin. They were published in December of 1950. She summered in Mattapoisett and was prominent in Washington, D. C. through personal activity in the Democratic Party. Mrs. Hamlin's circle of acquaintances included many eminent persons.
