Nye Homestead, 1800, 266 Converse Rd. George Bonum Nye built this house in front of the old 1719 house built by Ichabod Nye in 1718. Benjamin Nye came to America from England in 1637. King sold him 1100 acres for 35 pounds sterling.

Egbert Driscoll home, 1820. This long rambling house on 273 Converse Rd. in an area that was called Christian Hill, was owned by a man named Blankinship. He paid a man $75.00 to build the original part of the house which was a simple cape cod cottage. Wood on this property was cut down so that it could be used in the building of the house. Booth Gunschel house, 403 County Rd., 1790. Over 200 years ago this house, located near the end of County Road, was a busy place due to the stage coach stopping there with travelers. The main part of this Ansel Gurney Tavern is still the original building with additions added in later years.

The Sippican Academy built in 1836 at 124 Front Street was also known as Sippican Seminary. The Academy was remodeled as St. Gabriel's Episcopal Church in 1853. 28 South Street is in the background. Admiral Harwood started services in the upstairs when building was still known as The Sippican Academy.
