Description |
Egbert Driscoll home, 1820. This long rambling house on 273 Converse Rd. in an area that was called Christian Hill, was owned by a man named Blankinship. He paid a man $75.00 to build the original part of the house which was a simple cape cod cottage. Wood on this property was cut down so that it could be used in the building of the house. A lonely ships stairway has been added as well as four fireplaces centered around the chimney. A "birthing room" was near the kitchen, a custom in those early days. The old kitchen was made into a living room when additions were made in later years. |
