Water Street - The original home at 46 Water Street was built prior to 1855 by Ebenezer Holmes, who willed it to his daughter upon his death in 1869. Holmes' daughter was the wife of George W. Kelley. In 1890, a prominent Boston sugar refiner, H.R. Reed bought the property, moved the existing home further from the street, turned it at a right angle, and had a much larger structure built in front of it (the original house is visible at center here...
