DUXBURY - Isabel "Izzy" Louisa (Gibbs) Elwin, 93, of Duxbury, formerly of Marion, died Sunday, March 15, at Bay Path Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility, Duxbury. She was born in Port Arthur, Ontario, Canada (now called Thunder Bay). She was the daughter of the late Frederick Cranford Gibbs and Mary Helena Keighley. Her career as executive secretary at North American Life Assurance Company in Port Arthur and Toronto, Ontario, spanned 25 years. She retired in 1976. In 1979, she moved to Marion, to join her family where she resided until 1997 when she moved to the Village at Duxbury. While residing in Marion, she was an active member of St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church where she was involved in the Altar Guild and the Women of St. Gabriel’s, serving as treasurer for many years. She loved to play bridge and was a member of the duplicate bridge club at the Sippican Tennis Club. Her real passion was her family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Mary L. Tomlinson of Marion; grandchildren Joseph Tomlinson of Park City, Utah, James A. Tomlinson of Wellesley and Elizabeth Nemickas of Lake Forest Ill.; 13 great grandchildren; her niece Patricia Brodie; and her nephew, Robert Gibbs both of Toronto, Ontario. She was the sister of the late Cranford Keighley Gibbs. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 11, her birthday, at St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church, 124 Front St., Marion. |
