Priscilla Evangeline (Knowles) Holt, 72, of Micco, Florida died Wednesday, April 15, 2009 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born May 12, 1936 in Swampscott, MA. and raised in Danvers, MA. by her parents, the late William H. and Evangeline A. (Greene) Knowles. After graduating high school in Danvers, Priscilla attended and graduated from the Mass. School of Design in Boston. She loved drawing, painting, gardening, bowling, sewing and music. She lived with her parents at the Captain Hadley House and, along with her mother, ran the Candy Shop located there. After marrying Albert Holt of Marion, she raised four children and was a stay at home mom providing lots of love and fond memories for them. Later she worked in the cafeteria at Sippican School for many years. Priscilla moved to Wareham in 1976 and worked at Cornwells’ Dept Store. She relocated to Micco, Florida in 1981 and resided there since, coming back to to enjoy autumn in New England each year. She was active in the fight against cancer with support groups in Florida. She did the Relay for Life for over 10 years. The last relay she walked part way and though she was too weak to finish, she insisted on being brought around the rest of the way by a cart with her caregiver. Though she was suffering she would find the joy in each day even up until the end. She was the loving mother of Deborah Silverberg of Mattapoisett, Edward Holt and his wife Dana of Norridgewock, ME., Russell Holt and his wife MariaRegina of Rochester, MA. and Norman Holt and his companion Linda Noble, of Marion, MA. She had seven grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her loving sister Karen E. Wallace of Hill, N.H. The two of them, though miles apart shared a very special bond. A graveside service to celebrate her life will take place at The Old Landing Cemetary in Marion |
